The Golden Age

The Earth and her many cultures of people experience a new change in values and religious concepts about every 2,000 years. This corresponds with the relative motion of the Sun and Earth in what Plato called "The Great Solar Year". The progression of the Ages can be measured by the position of the Sun in relation to the constellations of the Zodiac at the time of the Spring Equinox.

The Sun takes approximately 2,150 years to pass through each of the Zodiacal signs, making a complete cycle each 25,800 years. For example, we very recently experienced the very beginning of the 2 millenia cycle of the Aquarian Age. About 2,000 years ago the "Bethlehem Star" marked the dawning of the Age of Pisces, the Fish. About 2,150 years prior to that, Moses helped usher in the Age of Aries, the Ram. For the two millenia prior to that, the Egyptians rose to power in the Age of Taurus, the Bull (Ba'al).

Throughout modern history (i.e since the Church burnt all the documentation contradicting their own factoids) many individuals have left the same message...we are capable of much greater things.

The current social paradigm is at a loss.
Fear motivated control hungry corrupt leaders have shattered the faith in the establishment..science hasn't told us what the hell is going on since it went out after the French Renaissance...
The Church has lost it's strong hold as the first Trans-national company, instead now having to compete with several of it's own subsidiaries and at the beginning of the scientific era, men had the hope that the ability to discover truth would free mankind from superstition, dogma, and the service of power.
The belief in truth was powerful. Truth would deliver justice and bring an end to status-based privileges and the falsehoods propagated by privilege.

The faith in truth was short-lived.
Today propaganda is everywhere in the ascendency.

Every day we're bombarded with Bush and his various international cronies claiming 'victory in Iraq will happen, defeat is not an opition' though any elaboration beyond this empty rhetoric is asking to much. The freedom excuse was invented after it became impossible to maintain the fictions about Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein’s connections to Osama bin Laden. Bush has yet to tell the real reason he invaded Iraq.
Without commitment to truth, science, justice, and debate falter and disappear.

The belief in truth is fading from our society. It is unclear that scientists themselves any longer believe in truth or the ability to discover it.

The discovery of truth is no longer the purpose of our criminal justice system. Once prosecutors believed that it was better for ten guilty men to go free than for one innocent person to be wrongfully convicted. Today prosecutors believe in high conviction rates to justify their budgets and re-election.

In the past police solved crimes. Today they round up suspects and pressure them.

There was no debate in Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia, and none today in the US.

All societies have elements of myth, untruths that nevertheless serve to unite a people. But many myths serve as camouflage for evil.
One of the greatest myths is that "GIs have died for our freedom." GIs have died for American empire, for the American elite’s commitment to England, and for the military-industrial complex’s profits.
Some may have died in Korea for the freedom of South Koreans, and some may have died trying to save South Vietnamese from the North Vietnamese communists.
But it is hogwash that GIs died for our freedom.
Individual soldiers who survive combat often come home to realize that all of the horrific and heroic actions they took don't mean anything. Vietnam is ruled by a communist government.

Nobody but a historian even remembers what World War I was all about, much less the 10 million young men who died fighting it.
World War II and Korea are likewise fading from public memory.

There was no prospect of North Korea attacking America in the 1950s or Vietnam attacking America in the 1960s and none today. The Nazis were defeated by Russia before US troops landed in Europe.
The US never faced any threat of invasion from Germany, Italy, or Japan, and we down under in Australia were not under threat from those opposing the international imerialist regime of the Bush Administration..
The vast majority of the world’s terrorists are the recent creations of Bush’s invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq and of Israel’s invasion of Lebanon and brutality toward the Palestinians. Bush is simultaneously creating terrorists and a police state. It serves no one but the police to make their power unaccountable and the weapons manufacturers who have posted record profits since Bush started bombing the crap out of half the world...Tales of fighting for freedom are sold to young men who believe they are heading off on the greatest cause of all..

It was a dandy plan to subject the German trenches in World War I to a heretofore-unprecedented artillery barrage.
Then the lads would charge out of their trenches across no man's land.
The generals thought they would punch a hole in the German lines through which the cavalry would ride and break the war wide open.

The artillery barrage, hellish as it was, didn't do the job. German machine-gunners came out of their bunkers and mowed down the young Brits. About 20,000 died on that day. Altogether, before the battle was over, British casualties would total 370,000.

Even this brief description reduces it all to the abstract.
Twenty thousand?
What's that?
A number.

Add a face, a name and a life story to each of those 370, 000 and suddenly War has a much more emotional and human connotation doesn't it?

But no, they are just part of the masses that were sacrificed in the 20th century, a portion of the nearly 200 million who died in that failed century.

The young people dying in Iraq are not dying to protect their country. As usual, they were lied to.
They're dying for corporate profits, in which they do not share; they are dying because of political opportunists in Washington.

Iraq is an artificial country created at the end of World War I by British colonialism. It has always existed because a powerful central government, wielding its authority in the most savage manner, has forced it to hold together. That is the only history Iraq has. Can any honest American say that 10 years from now, Iraq will be a peaceful and prosperous country with many monuments to the Americans who liberated it? No, if Iraq exists, it will exist the way it always has – with a central government wielding its power in a savage and bloody manner.

It is a conflict built on lies and deception in pursuit of profit and it has shattered the idea the governments are there to protect the truth..

When the Clinton administration allowed the media concentration in the 1990s, the independence of the American media was destroyed. Today there are a few large conglomerates whose values depend on broadcast licenses from the government. The conglomerates are run by corporate executives who are not journalists and whose eyes are on advertising revenues. They publish and broadcast what is safe.

These conglomerates will take no risks in behalf of free speech or truth.

Such misinformation affects society, this coupled with our rampant self indulgent mechanical evolution is setting the scene for some very drastic changes.

Kurzweil in his 2001 essay The Law of Accelerating Returns extends Moore's law to describe an exponential growth of technological progress.
Moore's law describes an exponential growth pattern in the complexity of integrated semiconductor circuits.
Kurzweil extends this to include technologies from far before the integrated circuit to future forms of technology. Whenever a technology approaches some kind of a barrier, according to Kurzweil, a new technology will be invented to allow us to cross that barrier. He cites numerous past examples of this to substantiate his assertions. He predicts that such paradigm shifts have and will continue to become increasingly common, leading to "technological change so rapid and profound it represents a rupture in the fabric of human history."
He believes the Law of Accelerating Returns implies that a technological singularity will occur before the end of the 21st century, in 2045

An analysis of the history of technology shows that technological change is exponential, contrary to the common-sense 'intuitive linear' view. So we won't experience 100 years of progress in the 21st century—it will be more like 20,000 years of progress (at today's rate). The 'returns,' such as chip speed and cost-effectiveness, also increase exponentially. There's even exponential growth in the rate of exponential growth. Within a few decades, machine intelligence will surpass human intelligence, leading to the Singularity—technologic al change so rapid and profound it represents a rupture in the fabric of human history. The implications include the merger of biological and nonbiological intelligence, immortal software-based humans, and ultra-high levels of intelligence that expand outward in the universe at the speed of light.

Our rate of progress is increasing and the rate at which it increases is also increasing....
The current super power has lost it's stronghold on public opinion...
Spontaneous creative energy is returning to the sub cultures that inhabit every nook and cranny of this skeewiff world and we are only just catching up to the atrology of ancient civilisations.

The times they are a changin
